📢 Monthly Changelog – May 2025

Hi everyone,

As always, on the last Wednesday of each month, we're excited to share recent updates and improvements to Baluu. This helps keep our partners informed and aligned with where we’re heading and what we’re working on.

🔐 Major Overhaul: Authentication System (Important!)

We’ve completed a major rework of our authentication system, one of the oldest components of Baluu, dating back to 2016. While the current system has been reliable, it's based entirely on outdated username and password methods.

As we prepare to open a public API for advanced partners and other key initiatives, we need to modernize authentication to support more secure and flexible methods such as:

Magic Links
One-Time Codes
API Tokens
Social Logins

This change is critical for security and scalability and for future of Baluu.

Please note: it will not be possible to reuse your current password. Each authentication method uses a different hashing mechanism, and for security reasons, we cannot migrate existing passwords.

What does this mean for you?

After we roll out the new system, you’ll be asked to log in again using the email associated with your account. You’ll receive a** one-time code** by email, which you'll use to sign in. This will be required any time you log in from a new device or if your session expires.

🧠 Directories & AI Readiness

We're paying close attention to how **AI is changing the way people discover businesses **online. To help future-proof your business, we’re working on:

Building new service/event directories
Optimising listings for AI discoverability by generating automatically URL (closed work)
Other initiatives that for now we will no disclose due to our competition

We’ll soon ask if you’d like to opt-in to display your events and services on these directories.

📝 Text Editor Upgrade (with Images!)

We've upgraded our Markdown editor used for content, if you find an place in dashboard that doesn't use the editor and it would be a good fit please let us know. The new editor will also include:

Image uploads (coming soon)
In-Text bubble format
Improved formatting options
Future-ready features (drag & drop, AI content assistance, and more)

🛠️ Other Improvements & Fixes

Iframe Resizer Fix – Resolved a major issue affecting embedded codes.

Custom Timetable Widget/Website Filters – We have reworked the filters on this view and included custom date ranges, making it easier for customers to browse events and listing to specific date range. We have also included a filter called availability.
Country Field on Checkout – On checkout we have now an dropdown with country input to select so we can make sure the phone number are consistently formatted.
Guest Info Visibility – If additional customer details aren't required, we now hide extra guest fields automatically.
Deposit for Fixed Dates (Beta) – We're exploring a new feature where deposits are taken upfront and the balance is collected post-event via a different method. Currently available only to select partners for feedback.
